The “Speed Test Service” means the websites, EducationSuperHighway.org and SchoolSpeedTest.org, and any related mobile applications, or Internet services under the control of ESH, whether partial or otherwise, in connection with providing an online platform for ESH’s services. The SchoolSpeedTest does not include the Item 21 Portal available at Item21portal.org.
“Personal Information” means information that alone or when in combination with other information may be used to readily identify, contact, or locate you, such as: name, address, email address, or phone number. We do not consider Personal Information to include information that has been anonymized so that it does not allow a third party to easily identify a specific individual.
The Speed Test Service Collects Your Information
We may collect Personal Information when:

Personal Information Collection. We collect information, including Personal Information, that you provide to us when you use the Speed Test Service or submit a customer service inquiry. We may also collect Personal Information about school officials from public sources, such as from the United States Department of Education. This Personal Information may include your name, school address, and school contact information.
Using the Speed Test Service. We collect information you post through the Speed Test Service. For example, we may ask you questions about your role at the school, location in the school, and contact information. You may be able to submit free text to give us more information about your connection speed. If you enter Personal Information in free text fields, we will collect it.
Location Information from Your Device. We may use your IP address to collect and store your location when you are running a connection-speed test.
Cookies, Automatic Data Collection, and Related Technologies. The Speed Test Service collects and stores information that is generated automatically as you use it, including your preferences and anonymous usage statistics.
When you visit the Speed Test Service, we and our third-party service providers receive and record information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address, and from cookies and similar technology. Cookies are small text files placed in visitors’ computer browsers to store their preferences. Most browsers allow you to block and delete cookies. However, if you do that, the Speed Test Service may not work properly.
By using the Speed Test Service, you are authorizing us to gather, parse, and retain data related to the provision of the Speed Test Service.
How WE Use Your Information
We use Personal Information to communicate with you.
We do not rent, sell, or share Personal Information about you with other people or nonaffiliated companies for their direct marketing purposes, unless we have your permission.
We may use aggregate information for any purpose, including for reporting and marketing purposes.

We use information, including Personal Information, for internal and service-related purposes only and may provide it to third parties to allow us to facilitate the Speed Test Service. For example, we may use the location information we learn from your IP address to verify that you were located at a particular school when you ran a connection-speed test. We may use and retain any data we collect to provide and improve our services.
Communications. We may contact you using the information you provided to us or that we have obtained from public sources for informational, marketing, and operational purposes.
Marketing. We do not rent, sell, or share Personal Information about you with other people or nonaffiliated companies for their direct marketing purposes, unless we have your permission. We may communicate with you to provide you with information we think may be of interest to you.
Aggregate Data. We may anonymize and aggregate data collected through the Speed Test Service and use it for any purpose. For example, we may use and aggregate anonymous data to build reports that we distribute to schools and other third parties. Such reports could include aggregated connection-speed data for tests performed in different areas of a school.

We Use Vendors and Service Providers. We may share any information we receive with vendors and service providers retained in connection with the provision of the Speed Test Service.
As Required By Law and Similar Disclosures. We may access, preserve, and disclose your Personal Information, other account information, and content if we believe doing so is required by law or if those actions are reasonably necessary to:
comply with legal process, such as a court order or subpoena;
respond to claims that any content violates the rights of third parties;
respond to your requests for customer service;

investigate and prevent unauthorized transactions or other illegal activities; or
protect our or others’ rights, property, or personal safety.
We may also disclose your Personal Information with your permission.
Security of Your Information
By using the Speed Test Service, you will transfer data to the United States.
If you are visiting from the European Union or other regions with laws governing data collection and use, please note that you are agreeing to the transfer of your information to the United States and processing globally. By providing your information you consent to any transfer and processing in accordance with this Policy.
